Wishaw Juniors Ladies / Girls - Match Reports

QUEENS PARK LADIES 3 - 1 WISHAW JUNIORS LADIES                                                                           Sun 29/5/201 League Division 1

Wishaw Juniors Ladies travelled to Lesser Hampden on Sunday to take on Queens Park in their latest Division 1 fixture. Wishaw started brightly in the strong winds and were unfortunate on a couple of occasions with only the post and the bar preventing them from taking the lead. The first goal came from a corner on the Wishaw right which was chipped right to the back post and the Queens Park player had an easy task to put the ball into the net at the far post. On the stroke of half time Queens Park doubled their lead. Wishaw lost possession in the middle of the park and although the ball found its way to Louise McIntyre in the Wishaw goal a slack clearance allowed the Queens Park forward to nip in and slot the ball home. Half time 2-0 Queens Park. Just after half time Gill McKenzie was replaced with Kayleigh Carr who was making her debut for the ladies side.    And it was Queens Park who scored again when the forward ran clear of the Wishaw defence to make it 3-0. Wishaw did not give up and they got their reward with a consolation goal.   After a bit of twisting and turning on the edge of the Queens Park box Jade Gallon found space to fire the ball into the left hand corner of the net. Gemma Whitsun was introduced up front in place of Pamela Liddell.  Wishaw played some nice football throughout the game but were unable to find the killer touch - although Louise McIntyre in the Wishaw goal made a couple of tremendous saves. Player of the match for Wishaw was Kerry Creechan who started at left back and was pushed forward in the second half as Wishaw chased the game. The whole team played well and they now look forward to the League Cup semi-final.

Team: L McIntyre, Crichton, Creechan, McKenzie (Carr), J Gallon, L Gallon, Brown, Boyd, Liddell (Whitsun), McIntyre, Spilkowska

Next up for the Ladies is the League Cup semi final against Toryglen at Rutherglen Glencairn on Wednesday 1st June.

FALKIRK LADIES u15s 1  WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS u15s 7                                                              Falkirk Saturday 28th May    League

Wishaw maintained their position at the top of the league with another emphatic win. They got off to a great start when Caitlin McLean scored in the first minute. This early goal settled the girls and they were soon in command with Amy Anderson and Hannah Coakley dominating the midfield .Gemma Whitson went close with a shot from the edge of the box as Wishaw took the game to their opponents. Nicky Bell was finding plenty of room down the left hand side and she was unfortunate that some of her crosses were not finished off with a goal. Falkirk were rarely seen upfield but midway through the half were awarded a soft penalty after Eloise Keenan challenged the Falkirk striker. They equalised from the resultant penalty kick.Wishaw took this knock in their stride and kept playing passing football and took the lead just before half time when an Olivia Whiteford corner was turned into the net by the Falkirk goalkeeper.

2-1 up at half time the second half saw the girls go 3-1 up as Caitlin McLean grabbed her second goal. Jamie Lee Dearie soon made it 4-1 and the rest of the match became the Caitlin McLean show as she scored 3 goals in quick succession bringing her total in the match to 5.The second half was played in driving rain but Wishaw played some great stuff and thoroughly deserved this excellent win.

WISHAW JUNIORS LADIES   2 - 2   RAITH ROVERS LADIES                                                                 League - Sun 22 May 2011

On a surprisingly dry pitch at Auchenheath Wishaw Ladies took on Raith Rovers in a league game. Despite defeating Raith Rovers last week in the League Cup Wishaw knew they were in for a tough game and that it is how it panned out. Wishaw were shooting uphill in very windy conditions and took the lead after 8 minutes when Pamela Liddell broke free on the left and slotted the ball past the Raith Rovers keeper. Wishaw were creating most of the chances in the first half with the Raith Rovers keeper being called upon on several occasions to keep the score at 1-0. Shortly after the start of the second half Rachel Everett was replaced with Maxine McCrindle. Dionne Brown then had to be replaced by Eilidh McIntyre after she suffered an ankle injury in a clash with the Raith Rovers keeper and two defenders. With 12 minutes to go Wishaw went in front again through an own goal. Pamela Liddell beat the off-side trap and ran down the right. From her cross the Raith Rovers defender, under pressure from Eilidh McIntyre, could only prod the ball into her own net. Wishaw were unable to hold onto their lead and from a throw on the right - conceded after Wishaw had taken a foul throw - Raith Rovers grabbed the equaliser. Wishaw created more chances on the day but were unable to take them and had to settle for a draw.

Team: L McIntyre, McLellan, Crichton, Creechan, Everett (McCrindle), McKenzie, J Gallon, L Gallon, Brown (McIntyre), Boyd, Liddell

KILMARNOCK GIRLS  0 - 5 WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS 17S                                                   League - Sun 22 May 2011

This game played at the Scott Ellis parks in Kilmarnock was played in extremely windy conditions. It was difficult for either team to play controlling football and there were very few chances until 5 minutes before half time when RICHARDSON took control of the ball at the corner of the box and struck an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Kilmarnock were stunned and from an almost identical position RICHARDSON struck again on the stroke of half time to put Wishaw two ahead. H. T.  0  - 2

Wishaw started the second half with the wind at their backs and with the pace up front it wasn't long before Wishaw were cutting through the home defence at will. RICHARDSON completed her hat trick before STEWART turned neatly in the box and added a fourth. The scoring was complete near the end when RICHARDSON capped a fantastic display by outstripping the Kilmarnock defence to score Wishaws fifth. This result puts Wishaw at the top of the league.

Next weeks fixture scheduled for Sunday 29th has been postponed until Wednesday 1st June 7pm K.O. at Overtown, Wishaw

WISHAW JUNIORS LADIES   3    RAITH ROVERS LADIES 2                                                  League Cup Quarter Final Sun 15th May 2011

After two successive defeats Wishaw Juniors Ladies were looking to turn their fortunes around against Raith Rovers in the Quarter Final of the League Cup.   Wishaw began strongly pushing the Raith team back and took the lead in the 16th minute. Stephanie Crichton took a long throw on the right just inside her own half to Pamela Liddell. Pamela knocked the ball back to Crichton and she crossed the ball long to the left wing where it was collected by Rachel Everett. Everett took a couple of strides forward and slotted the ball past the on-rushing goal-keeper to make the score 1-0 Wishaw. Raith Rovers were undaunted and began to create chances of their own. After half an hour  Rovers equalised when Wishaw were unable to clear the ball and the forward slotted the ball past McIntyre in the Wishaw goal. Half-time 1-1.

Wishaw regained the lead 19 minutes into the second half and again the scorer was Rachel Everett. A corner on the right was swung in by Kerry Creechan and Everett out-jumped the Rovers defence to put the home side in front again. Wishaw were then forced to replace the injured Lisa-Marie Boyd with Ewelina Spilkowska. Raith Rovers were piling the pressure on the Wishaw side and got their reward 10 minutes from time when they scored with a tremendous shot down their right hand side. Louise McIntyre then saved the Wisahw side with a tremendous block and from the rebound the Raith forward hit the bar and the ball was eventually cleared. With the game looking likely to go to extra time Wishaw pounced to grab the winner with only 30 seconds to go. The ball was played through the middle of the park out to the right to substitute Ewelina Spilkowska and she ran clear of the Rovers defence to fire the ball past the keeper. There was only time to re-centre the ball and the referee blew the final whistle.

Raith Rovers will probably feel aggrieved to have lost this game after the chances they created - especially in the second half. But for Wishaw this was a welcome win and they now look forward to the semi-final which will be at the start of June.

Team: L McIntyre, McLellan, Crichton, Creechan, Everett, McKenzie, J Gallon, L Gallon, E McIntyre, Boyd (Spilkowska), Liddell

Next up for the Ladies is a home League game against Raith Rovers on Sunday 22nd May.

RANGERS 1 WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS  17s 1                                                                             League Sun 15 May 2011

This first ever league game between the 2 sides was played at Petershill Juniors ground in Springburn. Rangers are one of the league favourites and started well pinning Wishaw back. The Wishaw defence stood strong until the fifteenth minute when a defensive mix up left an open goal for the Rangers forward to score. This could have deflated Wishaw but they continued to fight for every ball and at half time there was not much between the teams.

Half Time Rangers 1 Wishaw 0

The second half saw Wishaw play with belief and they began to dominate the midfield and placed the Rangers defence under extreme pressure. A free kick was warded to Wishaw 35 yards out and when CRILLY curled the ball into the box it was missed by everybody and the Rangers keeper failed to keep it out and parried it into the net. WISHAW seized the incentive and continued to dominate. Rangers were then reduced to ten when their defender received a second yellow for deliberate handball. With 2 minutes left RICHARDSON beat 2 players and struck a magnificent shot which the keeper turned onto the bar. A magnificent showing by Wishaw which bodes well for the rest of the season.

FALKIRK 15s 3  WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS 15s 4                                                                                at Falkirk Sat 14/5/2011   League

Wishaw stayed top of the league with a battling performance against a talented Falkirk side .They took the lead through Caitlin McLean but Falkirk soon equalised and just before half time they went 2-1 up. Wishaw battled back in the second half and equalised through Gemma Whitson. However Falkirk went in front again against the run of play. With 10 minutes to go Caitlin McLean brought it back to 3-3 and Wishaw grabbed a well deserved winner in the last minute when Joanna Devine fired home.

HAMILTON ACCIES 1 WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS 15s 3                                                                   at Larkhall Wed 11/5/2011    League Cup

Wet and windy conditions couldn't stop a fine performance as the girls went top of their section with another win. This was always going to be a tough match with both sides easily winning their opening games in the group. It was Wishaw who made the brighter start and soon took control of the game but chances were few and it was 10 minutes before the break until they took the lead. A fine finish from Jamie Lee Dearie saw them go in 1 up at the interval. The second half started well and Caitlin McLean fired Wishaw into a 2-0 lead with a strike from 18 yards. 10 minutes later Caitlin made it 3-0 with an almost identical goal.  Hamilton pulled a goal back late on but Wishaw comfortably held on for a well deserved victory.

 DRUMCHAPEL 3 WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS 17s 5

Scottish Cup First Round l.

This first round cup tie took place in Clydebank and Wishaw are attempting to reach the final for the third year running.  Drumchapel started the brighter of the two sides and were soon in front after a mistake in the Wishaw defence allowed a striker to slot home. Wishaw were soon back level when ROBERTS was put through and calmly placed the ball into the corner of the net. This gave the Wishaw girls a lift and scored a further 2 goals prior to half time when ROBERTS scored her second off the bar and a great 20 yard shot by MCLAREN which flew into the net.

Half Time  Drumchapel 1 Wishaw 3

The second half started with Drumchapel pressing and they deservedly pulled a goal back with a good move to reduce the deficit to one. Wishaw restored their 2 goal lead when RICHARDSON scored into the top corner from just inside the box. Drumchapel refused to give in and again reduced Wishaw' s lead when a magnificent 25 yarder beat the Wishaw keeper. In the dying minutes Wishaw booked their place in the next round when RICHARDSON beat 2 defenders and struck a fierce shot into the empty net.

WISHAW JUNIORS LADIES   2 - 3   AIRDRIE UNITED LADIES    Sun 8 May 2011

Wishaw Juniors Ladies crashed out of the Scottish Cup on Sunday with a 3-2 defeat against Second Division Airdrie United Ladies. After their defeat last week the ladies were looking to get back on track but were not going to find it easy against the Airdrie team. The game was fought mostly in midfield and Wishaw took the lead in the 23rd minute. Lauren Gallon played the ball out to the right from the halfway line to Eilidh McIntyre. Eilidh ran down the wing and cut past the defender and into the box where she played the ball back across goal to Lisa-Marie Boyd on the edge of the box. From this cut-back Boyd fired the ball past the Airdrie United keeper in to the net. Airdrie equalised on 37 minutes when the home side failed to clear the ball and the Airdrie player fired a shot high into the roof of the net. At half-time Stephanie Crichton was replaced by Ashley McCombie. Wishaw Juniors Ladies began the second half in much more positive fashion pushing the Airdrie side back but still failing to create any real chances in front of goal. With half an hour left Airdrie took the lead when a corner from the right sneaked in at the keeper's right hand post.   This spurred Wishaw on to try to get an equaliser and it came with only 7 minutes left when Eilidh McIntyre fired a shot in from the right hand side. But Airdrie United were not to be denied and they scored the winner three minutes later following a quickly taken free kick which caught out the Wishaw side.

LETHAM GIRLS 0   WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS 7   Sat 7 May 2011

Wishaw made the journey to Perth on Saturday for this 1st round Scottish Cup Tie and turned in their best performance so far. They made a fantastic start when Jamie Lee Dearie fired home after only 3 minutes. She then made it 2-0 five minutes later after Amy Anderson put her through with a fine pass.Jamie Lee then completed her hat-trick 5 minutes later with a great finish from the edge of the box.

Wishaw were in complete control and Gemma Whitson went close on a couple of occasions as they pushed forward looking for more goals. When the home side did try to push forward central defenders Eloise Keenan and Kayleigh Carr comfortably dealt with the home forwards.Wishaw increased their lead after 25 minutes when Joanne Rae slid a pass to Joanna Devine whose cross was turned in to goal by the home 'keeper.Wishaw were pressing down both wings with Gayle Deeney and Nicky Bell on the left and Olivia Whiteford and Joanne Rae down the right. It was Joanne Rae who added the fifth and then Jamie Lee Dearie made it 6 just before half time to complete an unbelievable first half for her and the team.

Wishaw started the second half where they left off with captain Hannah Coakley and Amy Anderson pulling the strings in midfield. They continued to pass the ball around and the home side rarely threatened Danielle McNamara's goal. With 20 minutes to go Jamie Lee Dearie came off with an injury and got a great ovation from the travelling support. She was replaced by Natasha Dalziel and with 15 minutes remaining Nicky Bell made it 7-0 with a fine finish from the edge of the box.

The girls played out the remainder of the match with ease and can now look forward to the next round

WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS U-15 1  HAMILTON ACCIES GIRLS U-15 3

Sat 30/4/2011

This top of the table clash took place on 30th April at King George Playing Fields in Wishaw. Both sides were undefeated going into the game but it was Hamilton who took the points with a 3-1 victory.

A strong wind caused Wishaw problems in the first half and Hamilton took advantage of this when a long clearance from their 'keeper bounced over the Wishaw defence and their striker was left with an easy chance to open the scoring. It was a strangely subdued performance from Wishaw as they failed to create any real chances although Amy Anderson and Hannah Coakley were seeing plenty of the ball in midfield. They were caught out again midway through the half when Hamilton went 2 up with a similar strike to the opener.Although there wasn't much between the sides Accies went in 2-0 up at the break.

Wishaw started strongly in the second half and quickly pulled a goal back when Gemma Whitson made a great run down the right wing and crossed superbly for Caitlin McLean to head home. The home side were now pushing hard for the equaliser and came close on a couple of occasions. However as they kept pushing forward they were caught out late on when Hamilton made it 3-1 although it looked offside.

WISHAW JUNIORS LADIES 3 - 2 EAST FIFE LADIES                                                                  SWFL Cup Round 3 - Sunday 24th April

Wishaw Juniors Ladies took on East Fife Ladies in the third round of the League Cup on Sunday at Tileworks Park in Stonehouse. Wishaw started with the 11 that secured a vital 3 points last week against Cowdenbeath with new signings Lisa-Marie Boyd and Lauren Hunter on the bench. Wishaw started brightly and took a rather fortunate lead after only three minutes. Kerry Creechan picked up the ball on the halfway line and threaded a pass down the right to Pamela Liddell. Pamela took the ball to the byeline and then cut it back across goal. The goalkeeper stuck out a foot but only succeeded in knocking the ball against Dionne Brown and it rebounded off her into the net. Pamela Liddell was finding a lot of success running down the right wing but from her crosses Wishaw failed to find the killer touch. There was a touch of fortune about Wishaw's second goal as well. An East Fife throw on the halfway line dropped to Pamela Liddell and she burst forward into the penalty box and slotted the ball past the advancing keeper. Despite the protests of the East Fife team the goal stood as Pamela was played onside by defender Reilly. Wishaw then had a couple of chances through Kerry Creechan - who was unfortunate to see a shot clip the top of the bar. Goal number three arrived and again the combination of Kerry Creechan and proved to be vital. Kerry played the ball through to Pamela and she shrugged of the challenge of the East Fife defender to run into the box and score her second and Wishaw's third. Dionne Brown was unfortunate to see her long range shot strike the crossbar and from the rebound Pamela Liddell could only head over the top. East Fife pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time when the Wishaw defence failed to clear and the East Fife forward fired a shot into the roof of the net giving goalkeeper Louise McIntyre no chance. Half-time 3-1 Wishaw. At half-time Gillian McLellan was replaced by Ashley McCombie with Rachel Everett moving into the sweeper role and Ashley taking over the left back slot. Eilidh McIntyre replaced Dionne Brown up front. Wishaw continued to create a few chances but East Fife were stuff opponents, flooding the midfield and making it difficult for Wishaw to get forward. New signings Lisa-Marie Boyd and Lauren Hunter were then introduced to replace Kerry Creechan and Gill McKenzie. Lena Spilkowska was brought on to replace Jade Gallon. Wishaw were toiling a bit now and with 10 minutes to go East Fife pulled another goal back - an own goal caused by a mix-up in the Wishaw defence. This meant a nervy finish to the game but Wishaw held on and now await the draw for the quarter-finals.

The Under 15s continued their fine start to the season with another comfortable win. They were well on top from the start but missed several good chances to take an early lead.It was only in the final 10 minutes of the first half that they managed to get on the scoresheet when Joanna Devine fired home after the Stenhousemuir 'keeper saved a shot from Caitlin McLean.5 minutes later the lead was doubled when striker McLean shot home.

2-0 up at half time the home side were again on top and Deborah McLeod made it 3-0 after some fine midfield play.Wishaw continued to dominate and it was no surprise when Nicky Bell added a fourth goal with 15 minutes remaining.

COWDENBEATH 1 WISHAW JUNIORS LADIES 4

WFL League Div. 1 - Sun 17th April 2011

Wishaw Juniors Ladies travelled to Cardenden  to take on Cowdenbeath in a Division One league match on Sunday. Wishaw were desperately short of numbers and could only field 11 players, including trialist Maxine McCrindle.   Wishaw Juniors started well and took the lead after 18 minutes.  A Pamela Liddell free-kick on the left hit the cross bar and from the rebound Rachel Everett stepped forward to side-foot a volley into the net.

Half-time 1-0 to the away side.

Trialist Maxine McCrindle was settling in well in midfield and her inch perfect pass out to the right allowed Pamela Liddell to collect the ball and race down the right. She cut into the box, drew the keeper, and slid the ball across the goal mouth for Dionne Brown to tap into the empty net for Wiahw's second.  Cowdenbeath were not out of it by any means and they created a few chances of their own - with Wishaw having to clear the ball of the line. After 57 minutes the third goal for Wishaw came from Pamela Liddell who beat the offside trap and raced through on goal to slot the ball past the keeper. Cowdenbeath replied immediately through Captain Kimberly Tennant to make the score 3-1. However, Wishaw wrapped up the points in the 90th minute when Pamela Liddell scored her second and Wishaw's fourth. The three points leave Wishaw unbeaten this season.

HAMILTON ACCIES GIRLS 17s  1 WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS  17's  3

This was the first league meeting between the two local rivals with Hamilton scoring an earlier victory in the league cup. Wishaw started positively and scored from their first meaningful attack when RICHARDSON shot home from just inside the box as Hamilton failed to clear. Wishaw continued to dominate from their opener and really should have extended their lead further but missed a couple of good openings.  In 12 minutes Hamilton forced a corner and when the ball came in Wishaw failed to clear their lines and as the ball came out to a Hamilton midfielder there was no hesitation as she struck the ball from twenty yards into the roof of the net. Both teams then  had a number of chances to take the lead, however the keepers were in tremendous form and a number of fine saves were made. Half Time Wishaw 1 Hamilton 1

The second half commenced with Hamilton reduced to ten players as one of the players was injured and could not carry on.  With no subs available Hamilton had to resort to a defensive formation which allowed Wishaw the space to pass the ball to their advantage. The Hamilton keeper was now extremely busy and managed to keep the visitors at bay for a time but  another attack ended with the ball breaking to ROBERTS in the box and she coolly rounded the keeper and put Wishaw ahead. With no option than to attack Hamilton pushed forward and left themselves exposed at the back and RICHARDSON profited with Wishaw's third and her own second as she beat the offside trap and placed the ball into the bottom corner with five minutes left. A good result for Wishaw but Hamilton deserved praise for their commitment with only ten players for the entire second half.

WISHAW JUNIORS LADIES  9  - 0  ABERDEEN UNIVERSITY

S FL LEAGUE CUP - ROUND 2  10TH APRIL 2011

Wishaw Juniors Ladies took on Aberdeen  University at Tileworks Park, Stonehouse on Sunday in a second round SWFL League cup tie.  Wishaw were short in numbers with only  2 subs after Rachel Everett called of ill and Eilidh Hegarty, Mandy MacDonald and Natalie Stewart were unavailable.  Louise McIntyre took over in goals. On a glorious sunny day Wishaw began strongly with Eilidh McIntyre tormenting the Aberdeen University defence down the left .  After 9 minutes the pressure paid off when Eilidh swung in a corner from the left for Kerry Creechan - one of the smallest players on the park - to head past the Aberdeen keeper at the right hand post.  Three minutes later Wishaw doubled the lead Lauren Gallon picked up an Aberdeen throw level with her own penalty area and played the ball through the middle to Pamela Liddell who beat the Aberdeen off-side trap to collect the ball and race through to slot the ball past the advancing keeper.  Shortly after this Wishaw scored their third.  Jade Gallon collected the ball in midfield and played it to Stephanie Crichton who made a superb reverse pass to Pamela Liddell who had the simple task of scoring to make it 3-0 to the home side.  Pamela completed her hat-trick in the 20th minute when she again ran clear of the Aberdeen defence after collecting a pass from Jade Gallon and beat the advancing keeper.  Dionne Brown was then unlucky to hit the post after the keeper could only push out an inswinging corner from Eilidh McIntyre on the left.  Pamela then scored her 4th goal, picking up a loose ball in midfield and firing it into the net.  Pamela's 5th came after 27 minutes when Stephanie Crichton again played an excellent ball through the Aberdeen defence  and Pamela latched onto it to put Wishaw 6 up at half-time.  Aberdeen University persisted in playing off-side from just inside their own half but they were punished time and time again by the quickness of the Wishaw forwards.

At half-time Dionne Brown was replaced by Ewelina Spilkowska and Ashley McCombie was replaced by Kirsty Kirkland. The tempo of the game went down in the second half but Wishaw were still creating chances with Eilidh McIntyre being unlucky on a few occasions not to add to the score. Gillian McLellan, playing sweeper, went in goals with Louise McIntyre coming out to play in defence.  It took Wishaw until the 78th minute to score their 7th goal and inevitably it was Pamela Liddell and this was the goal of the day.  Eilidh McIntyre made a great run down the right and played a superb cross into the penalty area.  A Rooney-esque scissor kick volley from Pamela Liddell saw the ball rocket into the top corner of the Aberdeen net.  Eilidh McIntyre was rewarded in the 80th minute for her hard work when she latched onto a Gill McKenzie cross-field pass to fire the ball into the net for Wishaw's 8th goal of the day.  Fittingly, the last word went to Pamela Liddell when she collected the ball from Lauren Gallon and slotted it under the keeper to make the final score 9-0 to the home side.

This was another good performance from the Ladies, especially in the first half when the link-up play from midfield to the forwards  was excellent - breaking down the Aberdeen University off-side trap time and time again.  A seven goal haul from Pamela Liddell makes her player of the match for the home side.

Next up for the Ladies is a league match away to Cowdenbeath on Sunday 17th April - venue to be confirmed.

L McIntyre, McCombie (Kirkland), McLellan, Crichton, Creechan, McKenzie, Brown (Spilkowska),  E McIntyre, J Gallon, L Gallon, Liddell

EAST KILBRIDE THISTLE 1  WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS U-15s 11 Sat 9/4/2011

The Under 15s continued where they left off last week with another high scoring victory to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Gemma Whitson started the scoring after only 3 minutes with a fine strike from the right wing. Caitlin McLean quickly made it 2-0 after a great run from Nicky Bell whose pass left her with an easy finish. Hannah Coakley then went close with an effort from 18 yards and Joanne Rae saw her attempt cleared off the line.Wishaw went three up after 20 minutes when an Amy Anderson shot was only partially cleared and Jamie Lee Dearie was on hand to knock the ball in.5 minutes later it was 4-0 as Joanne Rae cut the ball back for Hannah Coakley to fire home. The home side hadn't been in the game at all and on one of their few attacks they managed to pull a goal back but just before half time Gemma Whitson made it 5-1 after good play from Nicky Bell.

It was much the same as the 2nd half started with Wishaw in complete control. Jamie Lee Dearie made it 6-1 and Joanna Devine blasted home a Nicky Bell corner to make it 7. Amy Anderson then won a penalty after being brought down and duly converted the spot kick herself to make it 8-1. 10 minutes later it was 9-1 as Kayleigh Carr scored from an excellent cross from Olivia McMahon. In the final 10 minutes a brilliant double from Nicky Bell completed the scoring to round off another excellent team performance.

WISHAW JUNIORS U15'S 13 CUMBERNAULD COLTS 0 02/04/2011

This game took place at the King George V Park Wishaw and was only the second match of the season for the under 15's due to another postponement last week.

The Juniors Girls started this game against Cumberauld Colts very well, and it only took five minutes for the girls to score their first goal when some fine passing down the right wing found Olivia Whiteford whose cross found Caitlin McLean at the back post to head in from close range. This goal sparked the Juniors Girls into life, again Caitlin McLean scored from inside the box, to make it 2-0 after only 10 minutes played.  A further 2 goals in the first half from Joanne Rae, 1 from Nicola Bell, and 1 from Jamie-Lee Dearie, made the half time score 6-0 to Wishaw Juniors.

The second half started the same as the first with Wishaw having the majority of the ball and  the home side having no real answer to Wishaw's passing game. Superb finishing brought further goals from Jamie-Lee Dearie (4), Joanne Rae (1), Caitlin McLean (1) and Gemma Whitson (1) to complete the rout and a miserable day for the new town club.

Wishaw Juniors travelled to Troon on Sunday for their first away game of the season and returned home with all three points after a hard fought victory.  Wishaw began in positive fashion creating a couple of early chances which the Troon defence were able to clear.  Wishaw did take the lead after only 5 minutes when a long throw from Stephanie Crichton down the right was picked up by Dionne Brown who ran clear of the Troon defence to slot the ball past the advancing keeper from the edge of the box. Eilidh Hegarty in the Wishaw goal was called into action and she easily dealt with a header from a Troon cross.  On 21 minutes Wishaw found themselves 2 in front with the goal again coming from Dionne Brown.  The move started with keeper Eilidh Hegarty's kick-out being picked up in midfield by Stephanie Crichton and she played it through to Dionne Brown.  Dionne took the ball on a run out to the right and cut back inside the box to fire past the Troon goalkeeper.  The two goal lead was short-lived though as Wishaw immediately conceded a penalty when Lauren Gallon tripped the Troon forward just inside the box. Cooper stepped up to fire past Eilidh Hegarty in the Wishaw goal to make the score 2-1 - and it remained 2-1 at half time.

Wishaw began the second half creating chance after chance, hitting the woodwork twice, but the ball would not go in with the Troon keeper standing up to the constant pressure.  Lena Spilkowska was replaced by Kirsty Kirkland who slotted in at right back with Gill McKenzie moving to the left.  The second half continued with Wishaw always looking the more likely to score.  Mandy MacDonald was brought on to replace Dionne Brown for the last ten minutes with Wishaw still pressing forward.  They were almost caught out when the Troon forward burst clear of the Wishaw defence but she found Eilidh Hegarty in the Wishaw goal blocking her path and the chance was lost.  Final score Troon 1 - Wishaw Juniors LFC 2.

This could have been a much more comfortable victory for the away side but the three points are in the bag.

Next up for the Ladies is a League Cup 2nd round tie at home to Aberdeen University on Sunday 3rd April - venue to be confirmed.

KILMARNOCK 0 WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS U 17S  Sunday 270/3/2011

Wishaw made the  trip down to Kilmarnock  a worthwhile one  with a resounding  5 . 0 win.

Wishaw started brightly and were passing well through midfield and out to both wings making Kilmarnock chase the ball. Natasha Roberts and Carolina Richardson were linking up and the first shot of the game fell to Roberts but the keeper denied her a goal. Wishaw were in control and went ahead when  Deborah McLeod fired in from 18 yds following good play from the forwards. Out on the wings Angela Lamont and Rebecca Blair were causing Kilmarnock problems. Blair thought she was on the  scoresheet when she burst into the box, only for  the keeper  to make  a super save. Soon after, another fine save this time from Richardson had Wishaw frustrated and Kilmarnock started to push forward. Wishaw`s defence hesitated and were fortunate not to lose a goal, Killie hit the bar and  only some fine handling  by Rachel White and a low dive to cut out a  cross kept Wishaw ahead. This seemed to spur  Wishaw on and the midfield got a grip of the game. Lauren McLaren and McLeod  were  passing well and  ten minutes before the break Richardson finished off a fine move to make it 2 - 0

Wishaw made two changes at half time,  the injured Blair and Nadene Traynor   being replaced by Nicole Donnachie and Claudia Stewart . Straight from the kick off Richardson weaved her way through but lost  her composure and blasted over. Wishaw were playing attractive football and McLaren  slid the ball to Lamont who drove into the box, the ball bobbled as she went to strike it and her shot flew wide.   Left back Susan Lang split the defence with a fine ball and Richardson was in on goal only for the keeper to save well. Moments later the keeper denied her again. Wishaw were  pushing for goal number three, and it came when  Dannielle Crilly lobbed the defence for  Richardson to run on to, this time the big striker gave the keeper no chance hitting the ball first time. Another fine through ball from the midfield and Richardson looked to be heading for goal, but  Killie`s left back stuck out a foot and the referee had to put her name in his wee book. An excellent drive and shot from Stewart brought out the best from the Killie keeper but Roberts pounced on the rebound to make it 4. 0 . Kilmarnock pressed for a consolation goal but the Wishaw defence held firm with Kaitlin McGillevary in fine form.  Richardson was using her pace and made for goal again but she must have been dreaming of the headline "hat trick hero" and her shot would have hit row Z if there had been a stand behind the goal. However, Wishaw finished with a goal from a corner, Stewart  netting from close range.

WISHAW JUNIORS LADIES 4 - 1 GLASGOW CITY RESERVES Sun 20th March 2011

Wishaw Juniors Ladies began their First Division campaign on Sunday with a fine 4-1 against Glasgow City Reserves at Auchenheath on Sunday. Playing down the slope in the first half the ladies began nervously with the Glasgow team pushing them back and forcing a couple of corners which failed to trouble new signing Eilidh Hegarty in the Juniors goal. Gradually the Wishaw side came more into the game and Eilidh McIntyre came close to opening the scoring when she hit the bottom of City post with a shot form a tight angle. This only delayed the opening goal which came after 25 minutes. Eilidh McIntyre ran onto a ball through the middle and rounded the keeper before slotting the ball into the empty net. Wishaw created a couple more scoring opportunities but the score remained 1-0 to the home side at half time.

After 7 minutes of the second half Kerry Creechan was replaced by Pamela Liddell and she almost made an immediate impact with a run and cross down the left which ended with Rachel Everett firing in a shot which the City keeper did well to save. Wishaw increased their lead in the 60th minute. A free-kick to Wishaw on the edge of their own box was played down the right to Pamela Liddell. Pamela stormed down the wing to the bye line and cut the ball back to Eilidh McIntyre just inside the City box. Eilidh touched the ball back to Rachel Everett and she fired her shot across the keeper into the left hand corner to give Wishaw a 2-0 lead. Five minutes later Wishaw increased their lead when Stephanie Crichton won the ball in the centre circle and played it out right to Pamela Liddell. Pamela raced towards the City goal and slotted the ball past the advancing keeper. Kirsty Kirkland was brought on to replace Dionne Brown and within a few minutes she was adjudged to have fouled a City forward in the box and a penalty was awarded. Glasgow City Reserves duly scored to reduce their deficit to 3-1. Wishaw Juniors rounded off the scoring with another well worked goal - Pamela Liddell scoring with a header from a perfectly flighted Eilidh McIntyre cross from the left. Lauren Gallon and Rachel Everett were replaced by Lena Spilkowska and Mandy MacDonald and the home side comfortably saw out the last few minutes.

This was a great start to the league for Wishaw Juniors in their first game in the First Division after being promoted last season.

WISHAW JUNIORS  GIRLS 17's 3 DRUMCHAPEL GIRLS 17's 1 Sun 20/3/2011

This was the first league match by Wishaw at the start of the new season and was played on a heavy park at King George V.  The start of the game was an even encounter and there were few chances for both teams as the midfield battle was competative. Wishaw began to produce openings and went ahead in 17 minutes when STEWART broke free and chipped the oncoming keeper. It still remained fierce until half time.

Half Time Wishaw 1 Drumchapel 0

The second half was only a minute old when a controversial refereeing decision gave Drumchapel an indirect free kick for an alledged pass back. From 6 yards the Drumchapel player played the ball back to a colleague 18 yards out who sent an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net for a well worked equaliser. This spurred Wishaw on who now dominated possession and a defence splitting pass by CRILLY from her own half sent RICHARDSON clear who rounded the goalkeeper to put Wishaw ahead. Wishaw increased their lead when McLARE received a pass 25 yards from goal and sent the ball screaming into the bottom corner. Wishaw missed an opportunity to increase their lead even further when a penalty was awarded for hand ball and BLAIR had her spot kick well saved by the Drumchapel keeper. This was a good test for Wishaw as Drumchapel made things difficult with their effort and determination.

WISHAW JUNIORS GIRLS 15's FALKIRK LADIES Sat 19/3/11

This game had been scheduled to be played at Falkirk's home park, but a pitch inspection on Thursday decided that the pitch would not be playable, so a decision was made to switch the game to the new Ravenscraig complex. This was the first league game of the season for the under 15's due to last weeks postponement. Most of this team had moved up from under 13's age group and are still getting used to playing on a full size playing surface.

The Wishaw Juniors 15's started this game very nervously and went a goal down in the first five minutes when Falkirk's number nine fired in a shot from inside the box that beat Wishaw's keeper low into the bottom corner of the net. The Juniors girls started to play some neat tidy passing, and were rewarded in the 15th minute of the game when a great pass over the Falkirk defence was collected by Catlin McLean who rounded the Falkirk goalkeeper to slot the ball into the empty net to give the Junior girls a very well deserved equaliser. This goal spurred on the Wishaw Girls and five minutes later they took the lead, great work and passing from the Juniors midfield sent McLean into the box whose cross found Gemma Whitson unmarked to score her first and Wishaw's second.  The Falkirk Ladies team had some great chances to score but were denied by Danielle McNamara Wishaws goalkeeper who had two great saves to keep the game at 2-1. Wishaw Juniors third goal was scored just before half time when some great passing in midfield found Amy Anderson who collected the ball and found Catlin McLean with a great through ball to slot the ball passed the Falkirk goalkeeper. The second half started the same way as the first, Falkirk had two chances, again McNamara kept the score at 3-1 with some fine saves. Falkirk did pull a goal back to make it 3-2. Wishaw girls were still in full control of this game and made it 4-2 when a long ball from defence caught out the Falkirk defenders and Catlin McLean raced through on goal to score her third goal of the game. The Junior Girls made it 5-2 when a corner was not cleared by the Falkirk defence, the ball broke to Amy Anderson at the back post to send the ball high into the Falkirk net. The juniors sixth goal was the best goal of the game when some fine passing involving Hannah Coakley, Amy Anderson and Nicola Bell, and it was Nicola Bell's cross from the left that found Leah McDonald in the box with a great header to leave the Falkirk goalkeeper with no chance of saving.  This was a great team performance, everyone played their part.  Great start to a new season.

Hamilton Girls Under 17s V Wishaw Juniors FC Girls Under 17s  Sun 13/3/11

This was the first game of the season for Wishaw who were formerly Motherwell Girls Under 15s. It was a league cup section game played at the Jock Stein complex in Hillhouse.
Hamilton started the brighter and scored within 3 minutes when a defensive mistake allowed the Hamilton striker to lob the keeper from the edge of the box. Hamilton continued to dominate and scored a second from outside the area.

Half Time Hamilton 2 Wishaw 0

It was a completely different Wishaw team that emerged for the second half and passed the ball with good effect and were rewarded when RICHARDSON broke through the defence and struck a shot past the keeper to put them back in the game. Wishaw missed a number of opportunities and were punished when Hamilton broke forward and scored a third when a midfielder expertly struck the ball into the roof of the net fom 25 yards. Wishaw never gave up and pulled another goal back when BLAIR scored from an acute angle with 5 minutes to go. Wishaw should have equalised in the last minute when a shot from ROBERTS was superbly saved by the Hamilton keeper. A narrow defeat for the girls. However, good things are expected as the season progresses.
